Sparky's (Captain Morgan) Biography

Adopted after surviving Hurricane Katrina, Captain Morgan was renamed Sparky by the Mitchell children who had become self-conscious by their parents alarming tendency to name all their pets after liquor.  Sparky is a border collie, German shepherd mix which means he is a very smart and active dog with more than a little neurosis and a bad temper.  He appears to be more than a little upset to be forced to associate with canines of inferior intellect (Martini and Rossi) and expresses this resentment by repeatedly outrunning, outthinking and generally just mocking them during play time.  He does the same with the Mitchell humans.

Sparky rarely speaks of his mysterious past in New Orleans.  Well, it is possible that he does speak of it, but no one understands his accent.  He continues to adjust to the dramatic increase in elevation (from below sea level to an altitude of 8,700 feet).  Currently, Sparky can run extremely fast for 100 yards but must lie still on the master bed for several hours to recover. 

Sparky lives in the mountains of Colorado in a kennel.  He has an inordinate need for affection and spends much of his day finding items of furniture that he is allowed to lie on.  He enjoys stealing neighbor dogs’ bones and fancies himself as extremely good-looking.  Other dogs’ opinion of his attractiveness is mixed.
